A Divine Setup - Storm Stilling

A night-time “cruise” across the Sea of Galilee after a long day of ministry sounded like a great idea… rest and easy laughter as the breeze gently pushed them along.  But the next few hours brought worry, anger, fear, and astonishment. And it was all set up by God.  Watch and see why He brought the storm.

About this Message

Mark 4:35-41 records a miraculous event on the Sea of Galilee, the workplace of four of Jesus’ disciples.  Thirteen men were in that small boat. Get wet with twelve of them as they faced drowning, and smell their fear.

Listen to the conversation they had with Jesus over the roar of the wind, and then the conversation He has with the wind and the waves.

Consider the purpose of Jesus’ two questions to the disciples.

Go Deeper Questions

Think of other examples (at least two) when Jesus pushed His disciples out of their comfort zone, asking them to do the impossible.  Why would He do that?

When was the last time you found yourself in circumstances that were out of your control and a lot was at stake?  What response choices did you have at the time?

Just how sovereign is God in your theology? Where in the Bible do you go to affirm that conviction?

How sovereign is He in your experience?  What are you doing with a God who is more committed to deepening your dependence on Him than your comfort?
